Install an update

With an active maintenance plan, you receive BarcodeOCR updates and extensions free of charge. You download the update from the website and install it with the setup wizard. Prepare the update briefly and check afterwards that all configurations run as usual.

Download the update​

The download page offers the current version of BarcodeOCR and a version archive. Enter your serial number there to download the latest version for your license.

Preparation​

  • Read the release notes of the new version. They contain any instructions for the update.
  • Back up your settings by exporting them. For details, see Manage configurations.
  • If you use an offline license: Check that the maintenance end date in the About this software dialog shows the current expiry date of your maintenance. You can find the current date in the license portal.
  • Download the latest version of BarcodeOCR for your license.

Update​

  1. Stop the BarcodeOCR service and close the BarcodeOCR application. For how to control the service, see Service and logs.
  2. Start the setup wizard and follow the steps.
  3. Start BarcodeOCR.
  4. Check your configurations to make sure all settings have been carried over correctly. If the new version adds new settings, configure them as needed.
  5. Start the service if it is not already running. When the service is running, the BarcodeOCR eye turns green.
  6. Check the error log for any errors.
  7. If the error log reports missing permissions on folders, set up BarcodeOCR for use in the network: Process network folders.

If something goes wrong​

If an error occurs during the update, or if documents are no longer processed correctly afterwards, check whether a solution for your problem already exists: Troubleshooting.
