System requirements

BarcodeOCR runs in the background as a Windows service and processes files from folders on the local PC or in the network. Before you install, check that your system meets the following requirements.

Operating system​

BarcodeOCR supports all current Windows versions that Microsoft provides with updates, both 32-bit and 64-bit.

BarcodeOCR has been successfully tested on:

  • Windows 10 (32-bit and 64-bit)
  • Windows 11 (32-bit and 64-bit)
  • Windows Server 2016
  • Windows Server 2019
  • Windows Server 2022

.NET Framework​

BarcodeOCR requires .NET Framework 4.0. The setup checks whether it is already installed and installs it if necessary.

Permissions and Windows service​

You need administrator rights on the system to install BarcodeOCR, because the setup creates a Windows service for background processing.

Once the configuration has been created, BarcodeOCR runs as a Windows service without any further user interaction. If folders in the network are to be processed, the service needs a user account with access to these folders. To set it up, see Process network folders.

Performance​

How fast BarcodeOCR works depends on the configuration and on your documents. Test BarcodeOCR on the intended system to get reliable figures. The trial version is a good way to do this.
