How BarcodeOCR works

BarcodeOCR processes scanned documents automatically: it recognizes barcodes, splits document batches in the right places and names the files after the barcode content. The software runs in the background as a Windows service, so nobody needs to be logged on.

Input folderThe scanner saves its files here. BarcodeOCR watches this folder.
ConfigurationDefines which barcodes count, how to split and how to name the files.
Output folderSuccessfully processed documents, e.g. for your DMS or ERP.
Error folderFiles that could not be processed.

The process

  1. You set up a configuration once. It defines which folders are watched, which barcodes to look for, how batches are split and how the files are named. You can create as many configurations as you need, for example one for incoming invoices and one for delivery notes.
  2. BarcodeOCR watches the input folders. These can be folders on the local PC or on the network. As soon as a new file arrives, processing starts.
  3. The results go to the output folder. Documents that do not fit, for example because no barcode was recognized, are moved to the error folder.

Once the configuration is in place, everything else runs without any further action.

What BarcodeOCR processes

File formats: PDF, BMP, TIF, JPG and PNG. BarcodeOCR can split PDF files and multi-page TIFF files into individual documents. PDF files can also be optimized.
