Distribute the load across installations

If several BarcodeOCR installations are to process the files from one input folder, enable load balancing. You find the option in the Advanced step of the configuration.

Never run two installations on one input folder without load balancing

If two BarcodeOCR installations watch the same input folder without this option, files are processed incorrectly. Do not set this up.

How load balancing works​

When load balancing is enabled, BarcodeOCR moves every n-th file from the input folder to another directory and skips it. A second BarcodeOCR installation watches this directory and then starts processing these files.

You can adjust the folder path to the input directory of the second installation and the number of files to be moved to suit your environment.

Set up​

  1. On the second installation, set up a configuration whose input folder is the directory to which the first installation is to move the files.
  2. On the first installation, open the configuration and go to the Advanced step.
  3. Enable load balancing.
  4. Enter the folder path to the input folder of the second installation.
  5. Enter which files are to be moved, for example 2 for every second file.

If the input folder of the second installation is in the network, enter it as a UNC path and set up an account with access for the service. See Process network folders.
